Postal Carrier Receives Award

June 30, 2009 Hughesville rural carrier, Lewis Pearson was inducted today into the prestigious National Safety Council's "Million Mile Club" for over thirty years of accident-free driving on the job. He began his postal career in April 1973 and has been accident free ever since. He received a Million Mile plaque and jacket. To be qualified for the Million Mile distinction, a professional driver must drive accident free for either thirty years or a million miles. Pearson will retire from the Postal Service on July 2, 2009 after 36 years of dedicated service. » Full Story

Hughesville Girls Break Record

May 12, 2009 The Hughesville High School girls 4x100 team broke the school record this past weekend at the Coach's Invitational held in Shikellamy with a time of 50.22. The team members are Stephanie Feldser, Torrey Hollis, Sarah Hunter, and Cassidy Merrifield.  The previous record was 50.42 and was set in 1999 at the State meet by the team of Jenn McCoy, Claire Gianetto, Esther Akpakip, and Kelly Gray. That team placed 6th in states. » Full Story

May 12, 2009 The annual East Lycoming All-District Arts Festival will be held May 13 and 14 at the Hughesville High School from 7 to 9 p.m. Elementary art teacher, Lynn Stola, and Jr/Sr High art teachers. Steve Buggy and Rick Mahonski will have their students' work on display in the gymnasium.
