Bride Wars

"If I were your wedding, I'd be sleeping with one eye open." But that isn't the beginning of the story. Bride Wars opens with two best friends living their lives-with boyfriends. Emma is a sweet teacher, and Liv is an aggressive lawyer. While their differences don't separate them, a wedding does.

Both of their boyfriends propose within the same week. Liv and Emma both dreamed of having their weddings in June at The Plaza-a beautiful hotel. They hire the best wedding planner, and there are three spots open in June. They each schedule their weddings. All is right with the world.

That's when the fun begins. By accident, Emma and Liv's weddings have been scheduled for the same day, and there are no more days open. One of them will just have to change the day. Stress levels begin to rise when neither backs down.

Will their husbands-to-be support them or only make matters worse? Maybe this life long friendship is finally over. Then it wouldn't be a chick flick, now would it?

Yes, this is a PG chick flick, males beware. While this is more of a BFF-best friends forever-movie than a romance, sexual content makes its appearance in more than one scene. Liz walks around in a bathrobe, and we clearly see her undergarment. We see some of it again when she goes to work only wearing her outer jacket (her shirt is wrapped around her hair).

A bachelorette party takes place at a strip joint. Buff men wear tight short shorts. Emma and Liz have a dance off at the joint that becomes sexual. Alcohol runs rampant. Liz drinks much of the time, and Emma doesn't spare the liquor, either. Cat fights occur, though nobody gets injured.

A few well known names appear in this film, including Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, Bryan Greenberg, Chris Pratt, Steve Howey, Candice Bergen, Kristen Johnston and Michael Arden. It is directed by Gary Winick.

I've enjoyed Anne Hathaway since Princess Diaries came to the big screen. She did a wonderful job in Bride Wars as did Kate Hudson. Both were very believable as best friends forever.

I've been undecided about this movie since I got back from the theater. It's cute, but I doubt if I'll be seeing it again. Then again, if you're in a chick flick mood, why not take a look? I give it five and a half out of ten stars.
