Two accused of body shop burglary
ELIMSPORT - Two area men are accused of breaking into an Elimsport area business sometime during the overnight hours of June 2, allegedly fleeing with more than $1,000.
State police allege Stephen M. Kern, 19, of 355 Liberty St., Milton, and James A. Frederick Jr., 18, of 949 Frederick Drive, Watsontown, burglarized King's Auto Body Shop, 1524 Gap Road, Washington Township.
Forcefully turning a locked doorknob, the suspects allegedly stole a safe, the cash and a credit card when they reportedly entered the closed business.
Watsontown police are credited for discovering the missing safe days after the alleged break-in. It was found smashed and pried open at an area river bank.
State police charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property are filed against both suspects at the office of District Judge C. Roger McRae.
Following Wednesday arraignments, Frederick was released on $7,500 bail and Kern was committed to the county prison in lieu of the same amount.
