Bark For Life Relay event to be held at Montgomery Park

By Staff | Aug 23, 2011

The Relay For Life Tri-Town (formerly Relay For Life of Hughesville) invites everyone to their first annual Bark For Life on Saturday, August 27 from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Montgomery Park.

Bark For Life is an American Cancer Society Relay For Life event that honors the care giving qualities of all canine companions. “With nearly 75 million dogs in the United States, we have dogs to honor as survivors of their own battle with cancer, dogs to remember who have lost their battle, and dogs to celebrate their love and companionship to their owners who are survivors,” said Mike Bieber, one of the main organizers.

All dogs, owners, and guests are invited to join this spectacular event. The morning will begin with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. with registration from 9 to 10 a.m. A registration fee will be collected from all dogs allowing them to participate in activities, as well as, receive a Bark For Life Bandana.

While at the Bark For Life, dogs and owners will be able to participate in a Relay walk, contests, and doggy basket raffles. Refreshments and dog goodies, including hot dogs, beverages, baked goods, home made dog treats, and doggie decorations, will be available to purchase from Relay teams throughout the event.

All proceeds from this event will benefit the American Cancer Society. For more information contact the American Cancer Society at 888-227-5445 or Ellen Bokeko at 570-326-4149 ext. 3109.
