Donald E. Breneisen

Donald E. Breneisen, 66, of 105 Carpenter St., Muncy, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport.

Born Nov. 24, 1945 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late William Alfred and Dorothy (Feigles) Breneisen. On June 20, 1970 he married the former Mary "Mitze" I. Zavada, who survives.

A 1964 graduate of Muncy High School, Don served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in Sept. 2009 after serving as Postmaster in Unityville for the last 16 of those years.

Don was a member of Muncy Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy; the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy; the Muncy Valley Loyal Order of Moose #866, Muncy; and the Highland Lake Manor 40/8 Club, Hughesville. Don possessed a passion for the outdoors and was a member of the Piney Ridge Hunting Club, Huntersville. He loved being in the presence of his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 41 years are one son, Tyler P. Breneisen of Conshohocken; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy M. (Breneisen) and Daniel Ford of Muncy, and Corey R. (Breneisen) and Jomo Dixon of Kingston, Jamaica; four brothers, Harvey B. (Carrie) Breneisen and Steven M. (Mary Lou) Breneisen, all of Hughesville, and M. Edward Breneisen and Thomas B. Breneisen, both of Muncy; three sisters, Wilhelmina (Robert) Rose of Crestline, Calif., Geraldine L. Barkan of San Pedro, Calif., and Debra K. (Robert) Woodside of Muncy; four grandchildren, Cy and Lula Dixon and Nolan and Wyatt Ford; and his mother-in-law, Eleanor "Polly" Zavada of South Williamsport.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Al Barkan and Earl "Bud" Bower; one sister-in-law, Cynthia Breneisen; and his father-in-law, Paul Zavada.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at Muncy Baptist Church, Penn & Market Streets, Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Scott Warren. Military honors will be accorded at the church following the service.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gatehouse, payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
