Montgomery High School To Open Internet Café

January 15, 2013
By Luke Forrestal, Senior , The Luminary

MONTGOMERY - What is a better way to support Montgomery School District's iPad initiative than to install an internet caf? The high school is doing just this. With the help of funding from the Montgomery Legion, the Montgomery High School has begun construction on a caf for students to use while working on curricular assignments. The caf is being built in a former locker alcove directly across from the library and aims to give the students a relaxing environment in which to study.

Plans for the caf were designed by the high school engineering classes and construction is in the hands of the high school technical education classes. The school plans on having the project done by the close of this school year and having the caf fully up and running for the 2013-2014 school year. Many thanks go to the current technical education classes and the Montgomery Legion for making this project possible.

The Montgomery Area School District adopted the TEE initiative at the onset of the 2012-2013 school year. Within this initiative, every high school student and teacher is supplied with an iPad to enhance the educational teaching and learning experience. This initiative will be carried into the middle school in the fall of 2013.
