By Staff | Aug 5, 2014

HUGHESVILLE – Kenneth Lee Nevel, 57, of 40 S. Broad St., has been charged with cruelty to animals for allegedly shooting to death a neighborhood cat outside his home and stomping on the feline about 9:15 p.m. on June 23, according to the local chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

Nevel admitted that he shot the cat because it urinated on his wood pellets, court records state. A neighbor saw him put the cat in a bag and stomp on the bag, according to the SPCA. He has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.
