Hughesville inducts 3 athletes to Hall of Fame

The 2014 inductees will be honored during halftime at the October 17 home football game this Friday against Bloomsburg.

Jeff Gray

1981 graduate

Jeff lettered in Wrestling 3 years, Football 2 years, and Track 2 years at HHS with a career high school wrestling record of 77-16-1. He was 1978 Middle Atlantic States Junior Olympic AAU Wrestling Champion, 3-Time Montgomery Xmas Tournament Champion, 3-Time Hughesville Xmas Tournament Champion , 2-Time Sectional, 1-Time District, and 1-Time Regional Wrestling Champion.

Chad Michael

In in 1981 he won 138 Lb. PIAA Wrestling State Champion, He also titled 3-Time West Branch 1st Team Selection, Honorable Mention Ascis HS All American, PA vs. NJ All Star Meet Team, West Branch All Star vs. Susquehanna Valley All Star Team, District 4 vs. Puerto Rico Freestyle Meet Team.

Jeff was inducted into the District 4 Wrestling Hall of Fame, achieved the Bloomsburg State College Career Wrestling Record 35-5 and made the Bloomsburg State College Preseason Freshman All-American Team. He has coached and served as President and Vice President of Quakertown Youth Baseball from 1998 to the present and the Quakertown Pop Warner Football Coach from 1999 to the present. He has been a member of Gladiator Wrestling Club 2005-2011 and is a Bronze Certified Coach for USA Wrestling.

He also assisted Pennsylvania Cadet & Junior National Freestyle Team 2008-2009, was PA Panthers Fast Pitch Travel Softball Coach in 2012, and a PIAA Wrestling Official from 1983 to 1991.

Greg Sullivan

1981 graduate

Greg Sullivan was lettered in Wrestling for 3 years, Track 1 year, and Played Tennis at HHS. He held a Career High School Wrestling Record of 75-21-5, was a Montgomery Xmas Tournament Champion, Hughesville Xmas Tournament Champion, Sectional, District, and 2-Time Regional Wrestling Champion, and a 145 Lb. PIAA Wrestling Champion in 1981.

Greg wrestled at Bloomsburg State College recording the fastest pin record at 150 Lb.

He was a PIAA Wrestling Official for 2 years and Assistant Wrestling Coach at Montoursville High School for 2 years as well as a volunteer Wrestling Coach at Wausau, Wisconsin, New Egypt, New Jersey, and Hughesville High School.

Greg was inducted into the District 4 Wrestling Hall of Fame. He retired as a US Army Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years of service.

Chad Michael

1997 graduate

Chad Michael lettered in Basketball and Football at HHS. He graduated from St. Leo University in Florida with a BA in Criminology in 2001.

Chad received a Law Enforcement Certificate from Pasco-Hernando Community College Police Academy in Florida in 2001. He received a Narcotics Identification and Investigation Certificates from Hillsborough County Community College in 2002. Chad worked as a Law Enforcement Deputy for Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office from 2001 to 2004.

He also worked as a Special Agent for the US Department of Justice and Drug Enforcement Administration in Miami, Florida from 2004 to 2009. He was a member of the foreign Advisory and Support Team(FAST) for the US Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration in September 2009 until October 26, 2009.

Chad received Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Life Saving Award in 2002 and the Drug Enforcement Agency Excellent Performance Award in September 2005 and again in August 2006. He also received the Miami-Dade County LEO (Law Enforcement Officers) Award in 2006 and the Southern District of Florida US Attorney's Office Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Awards in September 2007 and September 2008.

The DEA Miami Field division, Tallahassee Resident Office dedicated in his memory June 17, 2010. He was Posthumously awarded the Police Medal of Honor by the Fraternal Order of Police May 15, 2010, the DEA Purple Heart Award on September 15, 2010 and Posthumously awarded the Attorney General's Award for Exceptional Heroism on October 27, 2010.

He was also Posthumously awarded the International Chiefs of Police Valor Award in December 2011.

Chad died an American Hero on October 26, 2009 while bravely serving his country in Afghanistan.
