Muncy locals Nov. 2, 2016

By Staff | Nov 3, 2016

I was so impressed with Sunday’s event ‘Art at the Barn’ with local artists. The craftsmanship was outstanding and I was able to get some well deserved Christmas presents, unique one of a kind. I purchased a wooden trivet hand carved with a variety of hardwoods from Gary Burgard, a ceramic blue-green pottery bowl from Joel Rider, decorative hand painted snowman gourds from Nancy Burgard, and I still want to get one of Sue Seybert’s stained glass stars. I loved the pocket clutches, hand made soaps and lotions, and the bird houses were a hit. I hope that Justin and Amber Gardner who own the venue, The Farm on Beeber Drive in Muncy, will host another event like this again. I must say, the art was exceptional and it was great to see artists supporting other artists.

My heart goes out to all the flood victims from the flooding rainstorm on the 21st. Our area was very fortunate, but the Loyalsock Creek was devastated and many areas not far from us were affected by the flash flooding. A disaster center has been established at the Eldred Township Volunteer Fire Company in Warrensville and they are in need of shovels, garden hoses, nozzles, rakes, disenfectants, detergents, paper products and cleaning supplies. The county has asked to drop any contributions off at the fire hall. The County has also established a roving Mini Disaster Recovery Center for anyone needing assistance. It will be held at the County Dept. of Public Safety, 542 County Farm Rd. this Thurs. and Fri. from 10 to 8 with various county and state agencies.
