Muncy Locals Aug.30, 2017

August 30, 2017
By BARBARA C. BARRETT , The Luminary

This time of year I see a lot of road kill, and often feel sorry to see the poor animals hit by a car or truck. As hunting season gets closer, we will see more of these road incidents. To facilate removal of deer killed on the road, just call PennDot at 1-800-FIX-Road or the maintenance office at Lycoming County at 570-368-4281. Be safe this Labor Day weekend and enjoy our mountain getaway retreats. I was in Eagles Mere on Saturday and always enjoy the pleasant drive, visiting friends and walking along the lake. The Crestmont Inn is one of my favorite places to eat, and the chef is highly trained in gourmet dining. It is a treat!

Congratulations to June and Bill Myers who will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday with an open house at their home in Muncy on Buck Hill Road on Saturday evening.

Fairfield Auto Group has a new BMW dealership now in Muncy and located at 205 Lycoming Mall Drive. Although high in maitenance, these cars are worth the test drive. I previously owned one that ran over 250,000 miles before I decided to trade it in for a new Honda which I still own. I was told that car should also reach over 200,000 miles.

Vendors are wanted for the "All Things Christmas" 2nd annual craft show coming to Muncy on December 2. If you are interested, call Joyce McCarty at 546-8910.

Enjoy the quiet time of Labor Day weekend and through Red Cross.org, you can send wishes, kindness, donations and help to all those families in Texas who are displaced from the devastating hurricane, Harvey. It reminds me so much of Hurricane Agnes in 1972 when it just rained here for days. I had to wear rubber boots outside the entire time until the water receded.
