MUNCY - This weekend is a big weekend for the Muncy area. Three car shows are scheduled for this Saturday, September 15 starting at 9 a.m. The annual Corvettes on Main Street will feature a selected line-up of Corvettes on Main Street in downtown Muncy with judging and a scholarship award at 3 p.m. Sponsored by the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club, a scholarship fund has been established to give to students who are part of the automotive curriculum at the Pennsylvania College of Technology. Awards are given out each year to first-year students enrolled full time and majoring in the college's automotive technology, automotive service sales and marketing, collision repair technology, or automotive restoration technology.

Recently a $20,000 check was presented at the college campus to four students, each receiving $2,500. A total of 35 thousand dollars has been raised thus far since the inception of the scholarship program in 2014. This Saturday will be the 11th annual event in downtown Muncy for the Corvette Club which was formed 15 years from a small group of individuals who became friends through Corvette ownership according to Al Clapps who chairs the club's show committee. Cars will start to line up at 9 a.m. and the Corvette show will run from 9 to 3, rain or shine.

While glancing at the line of Corvettes, hop on a trolley to attend another show featuring Mustangs at Murray Motors on Route 405. This event will be held at the same time and is sponsored by the North Central Ford Mustang Club. From there just a short distance away at Fairfield Dodge of Central PA is another car show with a high performance of Muscle cars. Mopar Muscle is a group of enthusiasts who enjoy Mopars and hold monthly meetings in Muncy at the Fairfield/Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep Dealership on the first Tuesday of every month. Last year they reported that 156 cars were in attendance. Trophies and cash prizes are awarded along with Best of Show. Both vintage and new commercial vehicles will be on display.

Sponsored by Best Line, this 4 wheel drive Polaris will be available for a chance drawing during the Corvettes on Main Street event this Saturday. It was on display at Muncy’s 4th Friday, August 24th. Proceeds will benefit the SVCC scholarship fund.

All three shows will feature food vendors and a chance to win a Pocono raceway overnight stay package and $200 spending cash. Anyone can register to win at any of the 3 shows held this Saturday.

To coordinate with the three big events, Haywoods of Muncy will feature dyno pulls the day of the show in their restaurant parking lot on Water Street.

Friends Church in Hughesville will be having a power wheels demolition derby from noon to 5 with live music, food, horse rides and a bounce house for kids.

And if time allows, take a ride up to Eagles Mere to visit the Eagles Mere Auto Museum which showcases two floors of over 75 classic vehicles and a private collection of American made cars and trucks from the 1950s and 60s.

All of these shows represent an era when the United States dominated the auto manufacturing industry and all this is a "must see for any 'motor head' or car enthusiast.
