Montgomery Locals, Oct. 10, 2018

October 10, 2018
By JADE HEASLEY , The Luminary

This week is Fire Prevention Week and our local volunteer fire companies will be keeping busy with events.

The Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company will be having their annual Open House on Thursday the 11th from 5-8 p.m. According to Chief Todd Winder, there will be a number of different events happening that evening at their station including fire extinguisher training. Anyone who has never been properly trained to use a fire extinguisher should come and take advantage of this wonderful learning opportunity. It may save your home, your life, and the lives of your family.

The Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department will also be having their annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Roll this weekend. If you've never been to the Pumpkin Roll, it's lots of fun! The sight and sound of hundreds of pumpkins rolling down one of Montgomery's steepest hills is unforgettable.

Please come out to these events to both learn from and support our local volunteer fire fighters!

THOT "Don't be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week's value out of a year while another man gets a full year's value out of a week." Charles Richards

Many, many congratulations to the Red Raider Varsity Football Team for their 15-14 victory over Muncy last Friday night. Everyone in town rejoiced that the Old Shoe Trophy is back for the first time in fourteen years!

Lots of happy birthday wishes go to Lainie Solano, who will be celebrating her tenth birthday on October 12th.

If you would like to have a positive impact on the town, please consider joining the Montgomery Lions Club. Membership information is available from Roger McRae at 570-971-2825.

If you would like a birthday, anniversary, or special event recognized in this column, please leave a message at The Luminary Office at 584-0111 or e-mail it to news@muncyluminary.com.
