Prelude to Inauguration

By Staff | Jan 21, 2009

A prelude to historic events began this past weekend as president-elect Barack Obama traveled to the nation’s capital to take the presidential oath on Tuesday, Jan. 20. On Saturday, Barack and Vice-President elect Joseph Biden and their families boarded a train in Philadelphia, deemed the Whistlestop Train Tour, weaving south Maryland and Virginia and waving to thousands of onlookers. The train was reminiscent of President Abraham Lincoln’s trip to D.C. in 1861. At Luminary presstime, President Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.
