Three-Vehicle Crash in Sullivan County
State police at Laporte reported a three-vehicle crash Saturday in Laporte Township resulted in injuries.
The accident happened around 10:15 a.m. on Saturday on US Route 220 near the entrance to Pioneer Campground in Laporte Township in Sullivan County resulted in injuries.
The accident occurred as James Ritinski, 54, of Mildred was approaching Route 220 along Pioneer Trail, police said. Ritinski lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadway and slid onto Route 220 into the path of another vehicle, police said. The operator of the second was not identified.
Ritinski’s vehicle struck the side of the second vehicle, causing that one to cross the roadway and strike a third vehicle, police said.
The identity and number of the occupants of the third vehicle were unavailable as of Saturday evening. The operator of the second vehicle was transported to Towanda Memorial Hospital by Laporte ambulance, and the occupants of the third vehicle were transported to Muncy Valley Hospital by Eagles Mere and Muncy Valley ambulance, police said.
The extent of the injuries suffered in the accident was unknown as of Saturday evening. Ritinski was not injured in the accident, police said.
