Muncy woman swipes another’s money from checkout
As store customer, Michele Lynn Mendler made her way through the self-check-out line at Weis Markets in Loyalsock Township last May, she picked up $50 from a cash change dispenser and left the store, according to court records.
However, state police claim the money wasn’t hers but belonged to another customer, Melinda Steis, who had left the bills in the dispenser as she left the supermarket.
Mendler, 30, of 144 Mechanic Street, Muncy, has been charged by police with theft of lost or misplaced property. Following an arraignment before District Judge Kenneth T. Schriner Jr., she was released on $2,500 bail.
