PENNSDALE – Three people were injured Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash at the Pennsdale interchange on Interstate 180. They were from York County, state police said.

For unknown reasons, police were withholding the identities on Sunday of the three, a 46-year-old male driver and two female passengers, one also 46 and another 21 years old. All three were from Dillsburg and taken to the Williamsport Regional Medical Center for injuries.

The Escort was traveling along the north berm of the westbound lanes about 12:30 p.m. when a tractor-trailer slammed into its back end, sending the car down an embankment and the truck across the median, police said. The truck, driven by Blaine E. Smith, 29, of Williamsport, struck a guardrail along the eastbound lanes, police said, adding that Smith was not injured in the crash.
