Local teen allegedly forged 3 checks
HUGHESVILLE – Travis Scott Patts, 19, of Watsontown and graduate of Hughesville High School has been charged by borough police with allegedly forging and cashing three stolen checks at two bank branch offices in late January.
Police allege Patts stole a pack of 1,000 checks from Richard Roberts’ mailbox at 367 S. Main St. sometime in January and cashed three of them for an amount that totaled $800.
Patts admitted that he used the checks “to pay personal debts as well as to make purchases,” Police Chief Jason Gill said in an affidavit.
Patts was arraigned before District Judge C. Roger McRae on Feb. 17 on four counts each of theft and receiving stolen property and three counts of forgery. He was released on $7,500 bail.
