A 55-year-old driver was killed last Wednesday night when his pickup truck crashed on Route 15, about a mile south of South Williamsport in Armstrong Township, state police confirmed.

Brian Jay Peck, of Montgomery, died in the emergency room of the Williamsport Regional Medical Center, where he was taken following the 8:45 p.m. crash, police said.

He was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Peck’s wife, Carrie Mae, 52, a passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries in the crash but declined treatment, police said.

Peck was traveling south, attempting to pass a second vehicle while it was sleeting and snowing, police said. He lost control of his 1999 Mazda truck, which crossed the northbound lane and struck a guardrail on the east side of the road. The truck then veered back across both southbound lanes, colliding first with an embankment and then a utility pole, police said.

Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. said Peck died of blunt force trauma injuries.
