A convicted felon from Wolf Township faces a felony charge of illegal possession of a firearm after state parole officers discovered a rifle inside his Highland Lake Road home back on March 21, 2010, according to state police.

Mark Anthony Burkhart, 50, an inmate at the state Correctional Institution at Albion, was arraigned last week before District Judge C. Roger McRae and committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The discovery of the rifle occurred during a routine home visit by state parole officers at Burkhart’s home. Burkhart is on parole for a conviction of felony sexual assault, according to court records.
