By Staff | Aug 16, 2011

Michael D. Koch Jr., 29, of 152 Boak Ave., Hughesville was arrested for retail theft after he allegedly stole two scratch-off lottery tickets from Weis Market in Muncy Creek Township on Saturday.

According to state police, Koch purchased two tickets from the lottery vending machine, put them in his pocket and then approached a store employee, claiming the machine did not dispense the tickets.

An assistant manager gave Koch two additional tickets. After Koch left, the manager reviewed the security camera footage, which showed Koch placing the tickets in his pocket before approaching the employee.

The tickets had an estimated value of $40.

Charged with a felony count of retail theft and misdemeanor count of theft by deception, Koch was arraigned Saturday before District Judge Jerry C. Lepley. Unable to post $15,000 bail, he was committed to Lycoming County Prison.
