19-year-old killed after car hits tree
Excessive speed is believed to be the main contributing factor in a one-car crash that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man whose car crashed into a tree on Old Montgomery Pike Road in Armstrong Township about 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.
Joshua D. Andy, of South Williamsport, was killed on impact when the driver’s side of his Subaru Legacy struck a large tree and then went over an embankment, just east of Sylvan Dell Road, police said.
Andy, who was heading west, was wearing his seat belt, police said. He lost control of the car as he rounded a curve, police said, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Volunteer firefighters from South Williamsport, Montgomery and DuBoistown responded to the crash.
