Ex-manager accused of using credit card
PENNSDALE – A former manager at Sears faces charges for allegedly making unauthorized purchases on a store-issued credit card as well as using a stolen gift card from the department store, Muncy Township police said.
Shortly after Kirk Richard Kauffman abruptly quit as the operating manager at the Lycoming Mall’s department store in mid-December, officials discovered that he allegedly made $272 worth of unauthorized purchases on a Sears credit card, dating back to August, police said.
Kauffman, 54, of Bloomsburg, had been given the credit card to be used only to make “business purchases,” police said.
Police also allege he stole a $50 store gift card that had been turned in after a customer lost it. He used the card to make purchases in the last week of December, police said.
Charged with theft, receiving stolen property and access device fraud, Kauffman has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.
