MUNCY – A North Main Street motorist faces charges following a high-speed chase that ended when his car, traveling in excess of 100 mph, overturned on Route 405 in front of the state Correctional Institution at Muncy, according to borough police.

The pursuit involving Eric Logan Doucet began in the 100 block of West Water Street when an officer clocked Doucet’s vehicle traveling 55 mph in 35 mph speed-limit zone about 4:20 p.m. on April 18.

As Doucet, of 102 N. Main St., crossed the Route 405 bridge over the Susquehanna River, he traveled at speeds in excess of 100 mph, police said. During the pursuit, his car struck a FedEx tractor-trailer driven by Dannette Hanner, police said.

Doucet lost control of his vehicle shortly after crossing the bridge, police said. He was not injured when his vehicle overturned in front of the prison, police said. Following his arraignment that night before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of recklessly endangering and attempting to elude police, he was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
