MONTGOMERY – A local man faces charges of simple assault and harassment after allegedly beating his wife and stepdaughter at 3:00 a.m. Saturday June 23.

David Clare Ault, 54, of 9009 Route 405, Montgomery was reported that he had been arguing with his wife, Ruta, and began punching her in the face and mouth.

When police officers entered the home, they first noticed that Pamela Esaias, Ault’s stepdaughter, was bleeding from a cut lip, according to court records.

The stepdaughter tried to get away, but Ault allegedly followed her and punched her in the mouth two more times.

The accused was arraigned before District Judge James H. Sortman and is incarcerated in lieu of $7,500 bail.

He had a preliminary hearing scheduled before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on June 29.
