Trio arrested in connection with major shoplifting ring

PENNSDALE – Three more people have been charged in connection with a major shoplifting ring in which those involved stole several thousand dollars worth of DVDs and then sold them to get money to support their heroin addiction, according to Muncy Township Police Chief Christopher A. McKibben.

Misdemeanor charges of shoplifting, receiving stolen property and conspiracy have been filed against Tammy Linn Beamer, 38, of 610 McMinn Ave., Williamsport; Shelli L. Barner, 35, of 2023 Carlton Terrace, Old Lycoming Township; and Benjamin Scott Baker, 27, of 2936 Bon Lane, Loyalsock Township.

The charges were filed at the office of District Judge Jon E. Kemp. All three are accused of stealing DVDs from Target, Sam’s Club and Best Buy.

Beamer stole $1,559 worth of merchandise between Dec. 17 and Jan. 11, police alleged, while Barner stole $1,370 worth of DVDs between Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 and Baker stole $532 worth of DVDs in late November. All have been sent summons to appear before Kemp.
