PENNSDALE – While employed as night custodians at Target, a husband and wife from Shamokin allegedly stole an estimated $300 worth of merchandise, according to state police.

After Richard Allan Eckbold Jr., 30, removed the merchandise from the shelves and placed the items in a custodial trash can, he took them to a closet where his 29-year-old wife, Stephanie, removed the articles and hid them until it was time to leave the store, police alleged in court papers.

The alleged thefts, which involved women’s clothing and CDs, occurred in early March, police said.

The two have been charged with theft and conspiracy and sent summonses to appear before District Judge Judge Jon E. Kemp.
