Mall stores targeted
PENNSDALE – A 39-year-old man faces two sets of charges for allegedly stealing from stores at the Lycoming Mall and Lycoming Crossing.
Robert Eugene Reynolds, of Milton, is accused of taking a $499 mixer from a shelf at Macy’s in the mall Oct. 17 and obtaining a gift card from the store after claiming he was returning the item, Muncy Township police alleged in court papers. He was charged with theft by deception, access device fraud and conspiracy.
The second incident occurred on Oct. 31 when Reynolds and two women allegedly stole $931 worth of DVDs from Target at Lycoming Crossing and later sold 33 of them to FYE at the mall, police said.
Reynolds already was behind bars in Northumberland County when arraigned locally and recommitted in lieu of $80,000 bail.
In a similar scam, Ernest William Reynolds III, (no relation), 26, of Watsontown, faces felony charges of shoplifting and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing $3,184 worth of DVDs from Target and selling 24 of the DVDs to FYE for $269 on Oct. 24, police said.
Reynolds fled the mall in a vehicle with co-conspirator Randy L. Rider Jr.
Rider, 24, of Delaware Township, already has been charged in the case. An earlier article incorrectly identified him as the driver of the car.
Earnest Reynolds was arraigned on the above charges as well as theft by deception, fleeing police and conspiracy, and recommitted in lieu of $75,000 bail.
