MUNCY – Criminal charges have been filed against Dakota Wilson Egli, 18, of 49 Laidecker Road, after he allegedly struck another man in the face outside Egli’s Moreland Township home on Aug. 10, state police said.

In court records, police accused Egli of assaulting Jesus P. Montoya by striking him in the eye after Montoya told him to stop swinging an ax before someone got hurt.

Egli had picked up an ax to chop fresh firewood for a fire pit and was swinging it, police were told. Montoya was treated at the Muncy Valley Hospital.

Charged with simple assault and harassment, Egli has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.
