MUNCY – Chad L. Barto, 37, of 742 Stoney Batter Road, is accused of allegedly assaulting a woman at 264 Auchmuty Road in Muncy Township on Nov. 29, state police said.

The victim, Erin R. Starr, reported to police that Barto allegedly had pushed her to the ground following a verbal argument they’d had with each other. When Starr tried to call the police, Barto intervened and struck her in the face, an affidavit said.

Barto was arraigned before District Judge James G. Carn on Nov. 30 on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was committed to Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $18,500 bail.
