Two women face charges for stolen merchandise

By Staff | Jan 8, 2014

PENNSDALE – Rachel M. Mott, 25, of 106 Evergreen Point, Danville, and Shana A. Acy, 25, of 65 Beaver Place, Danville, are accused of attempting to steal more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from Macy’s at the Lycoming Mall on Sept. 23, Muncy Township Police said.

Both were sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp where they will face theft-related charges as well as a charge of possessing an instrument of crime.

The last charge stems from cutting equipment the women allegedly had used to remove security devices from the merchandise. The cutting tools were discovered hidden in two strollers – each of which harbored a small child – that the accused had with them, court papers said.

The terms of their release state that Mott and Acy are forbidden from entering the Lycoming Mall and any of its property, police said.
