HUGHESVILLE – A Muncy Creek Township man has been locked up on felony charges after allegedly converting a friend’s storage shed into a small methamphetamine lab at the Peterman’s Trailer Court on Route 405, according to state police.

Bruce Harvey Woodcock, 33, now living at 530 Old Glade Run Road, faces numerous charges after state troopers discovered inside the shed equipment as well as a “2-liter plastic bottle containing liquids and solids, which resembled a ‘one-pot’ methamphetamine lab,” according to an affidavit.

The discovery was made last Thursday after police responded to Frances Ackley’s home on Michael Avenue in the trailer park to investigate a report of possible drug activity.

The court’s property manager reported that Woodcock, who had been staying with Ackley, was seen “coming in and out of a shed behind her home at all hours of the night,” the lead investigator said in the affidavit.

The manager also reported smelling “a noxious odor coming from the shed,” the investigator said.

The shed was secured by a padlock, but Ackley gave a trooper permission to cut it since a key could not be located.

“Upon opening the door, I saw a clear plastic vessel containing grayish material consistent with waste generated during the production of methamphetamine,” the investigator said.

The same “graying material” was in a second plastic vessel in a trash can,” he added.

“Due to the volatile nature of the chemicals used in producing methamphetamine,” everyone got out of the shed and a special state police emergency response team was dispatched to the scene to safely dismantle the lab equipment and dispose of the waste material, the investigator said.

A search warrant was obtained so that police could search Ackley’s home. Inside, police seized “multiple items used for ingesting and manufacturing heroin and methamphetamine,” the investigator said.

Ackley has not been charged with any offenses.

Woodcock, an admitted heroin user, was arraigned before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, operating a methamphetamine lab, illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste, risking a catastrophe and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $400,000 bail.
