Hughesville Borough police arrested a local resident after receiving reports of a domestic dispute with a firearm.

James Stroup, 42, of 67 S. Third St., Hughesville, was charged with burglary, criminal trespass and simple assault among other charges after entering a residence belonging to Chad Yerg through a window on May 26.

Stroup told police that he was suspicious of an affair between Yerg and his wife.

According to an affidavit, he asked his wife about the alleged affair and the two entered into an argument, in which Stroup grabbed her by the hair and started dragging her around. Stroup then returned to his residence to retrieve his handgun and went to Yerg’s home to confront him.

Yerg told police that after Stroup entered the residence through the window, he pointed a loaded gun at Yerg, demanding answers. After that, the handgun somehow was thrown outside of the house and landed at the base of a rear window.

Stroup was arraigned in front of Judge Jon E. Kemp and jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
