Motorcycle crash claims 2 lives

MONTGOMERY – Two people were killed Wednesday night when their motorcycle went off the road and crashed into a sign on Route 405, according to Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling.

Montgomery police investigated the crash, but efforts to reach them were unsuccessful.

Killed in the 9:40 p.m. crash was Sheldon Charles, 34, of Muncy, who was believed to be the operator, and his passenger, Jennifer Miller, 35, of Montgomery, Kiessling said.

He said he believed the two were traveling from Montgomery to Muncy. The crash occurred between School House and Brouse roads in Clinton Township.

Neither Charles nor Miller were wearing a helmet and both were ejected from the cycle when it crashed, Kiessling said he was told.

Township volunteer firefighters and fire police responded to the crash.

A deputy coroner pronounced Charles and Miller dead at the scene of “multiple blunt force trauma injuries,” Kiessling said.

Charles reportedly was driving even though his license was under suspension because of driving under the influence of intoxicants convictions, Kiessling said.

It was the second fatal crash last week in the county involving a driver whose license either had been suspended or revoked.
