By Staff | Jul 8, 2014

MUNCY – Curtis Lee Schreck, 18, of 47 Sulphur Springs Road, Muncy, thought he and his friends could make a quick buck by selling his stepmother’s Springfield XD .40 caliber pistol.

Instead, they’re facing felony charges.

According to an affidavit completed by state police, Schreck allegedly met up with Cody Allen Benyo, 21, of 60 S. Main St., Apt. 3, Muncy Borough, at a dollar store and told him about the gun. Benyo told Schreck he would ask Zachary Delroy Reaser, 21, of 308 Columbia Ave., Allenwood, if he was interested in selling the pistol.

Schreck later removed the firearm from the center console in his stepmother’s car and met up with both Benyo and Reaser at Lyons Park, where he reportedly gave the gun to the pair.

Reaser took the pistol and was planning to sell it on Second Street in Williamsport and would later meet up with Schreck to give him cash from the sale, the affidavit said.

Schreck gave a written confession to police at 12:50 a.m. Friday.

Schreck was charged with theft, receiving stolen property and carrying firearms without a license. He was arraigned before Judge James H. Sortman and jailed in lieu of a $100,000 bail.

Benyo and Reaser each were charged with receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy. Both were arraigned before Judge Jon E. Kemp and committed to prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
