Ex-employee is accused

PENNSDALE – A former employee of J.C. Penney has been charged and given a misdemeanor for shoplifting and receiving stolen property allegedly under ringing $370 worth of merchandise for a friend while she worked there, according to Muncy Township police.

In addition to undercharging the value of merchandise, Elaine Innocent-Sylvester, 34, of 1635 Andrews Place in the city is accused of stealing $204 worth of merchandise while employed at the department store, police said.

The thefts occurred between March and May, police said. Innocent-Sylvester has been sent a summons to appear before District Judge Jon E. Kemp.
