MONTGOMERY – A Texas man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a woman Saturday night at Riverside Campground, 125 S. Main St.

Borough police were dispatched to the campground after receiving reports that Shawn D. Loyd, 36, was banging on a trailer door, yelling for the woman to let him in.

When police talked to the woman, she said that Loyd had struck her head and face and tried to choke her.

She told police she was afraid he was trying to kill her.

Police said the woman had swollen eyes, bruises around her nose and eyes, scratches and minor bleeding.

Loyd was charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned before Judge Jon E. Kemp and jailed in lieu of $30,000 bail
