Strip search after crash produces drugs
MUNCY – A routine crash investigation resulted in drug charges being filed against a motorist who concealed on her person a prescription bottle that did not belong to her, according to state police.
After Amanda Lynell Wise, of 1075 Lime Bluff Road, Hughesville, was taken into custody for driving under the influence of a controlled substance following a crash on Route 220 in Muncy Township on Sept. 16. The 28-year-old woman automatically was committed to the Lycoming County Prison on a probation violation.
During a strip search at the jail, corrections officers found on her a prescription bottle with painkiller pills in it, police said. It turned out that Wise allegedly stole the prescription bottle from a Wolf Township home she visited hours earlier, police said.
Arraigned last week before District Judge Jon E. Kemp on charges of theft, possession of contraband and driving under the influence of a controlled substance, Wise was recommitted in lieu of $35,000 bail.
