Husband, wife hurt in motorcycle crash
A husband and wife were critically injured Sunday night after their motorcycle crashed in the 8500 block of Route 442 in Moreland Township around 7 p.m.
The woman was flown by medical helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment, while the man was taken there by ambulance, according to fire Chief Scott Delany, of the Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Co., which responded to the crash along with state police.
Delany said the man, who was operating the motorcycle, swerved to avoid a deer in the road and lost control of the bike.
State police had not released the couple’s names as of presstime.
The accident came just one day after a fatal crash occurred on Exchange Road in the township.
Dorrance H. Berger, 73, who owned Berger Sanitation Service, of Muncy, was traveling on the road Saturday afternoon when his vehicle rolled down a 25-foot embankment and crashed into an unoccupied SUV.
Berger died at the scene as a result of injuries from being ejected from the vehicle as it rolled, according to Jerold Ross, chief deputy coroner of Lycoming County.
