MUNCY – A pharmacist at the CVS on Muncy Creek Boulevard in Muncy Creek Township has been charged with stealing drugs from the business, according to state police.

Daniel Edward Evans II, 46, of 205 Walnut St., Montoursville, has been charged with theft, receiving stolen property and illegal possession of two prescribed drugs, police said.

The charges stem from an internal investigation that was conducted by Jennifer Gray, the CVS regional manager, police said.

Surveillance video recorded Evans filling a prescription for a customer who did not call in the order, police said.

Investigators allege that Evans stole $18 worth of the prescribed drug Alprazolam as well two pills of Cialis, that cost $109.

Court records state Evans admitted to the thefts, telling investigators he already had a prescription for Alprazolam from his doctor, “but he felt he needed more for his own personal use in case he ran out,” according to an affidavit.

Evans said he took the Cialis pills “because he needed them,” the affidavit stated. Following his recent arraignment before District Judge James H. Sortman and waiving his preliminary hearing, he was released on $25,000 bail.
