2 dead in crash in Jordan Township
Two women were killed late last Friday morning in a three-vehicle crash in Jordan Township.
State police said Carol Peslin, 73, of Hamilton, New Jersey, and her passenger, Barbara A. Mensch, who hailed from Flemingsburg, Kentucky, but whose age was not released, were pronounced dead by the Montour County coroner at the Geisinger Medical Center after being flown there by helicopter. Both had been wearing a seat belt.
Another driver involved in the crash, James R. McLean, 77, of Lock Haven, was sent to Geisinger to be treated for injuries. He remained there on Saturday in serious condition, according to nursing supervisor Jane Wolfe.
The third driver, Jace Q. Morris, 24, of Du Bois, Illinois, was not injured.
The crash occurred at the intersection of state routes 42 and 118 in the township at 11:20 a.m.
State police said McLean, traveling east on Route 118, collided with Peslin because she had failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection where the highways meet. As a result, McLean’s vehicle was pushed into the westbound lane of Route 118 and struck Morris’ vehicle.
