HUGHESVILLE – A 42-year-old Wolf Township man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand when the handgun he was handling went off inside his home on Boak Avenue about 12:40 a.m. last Friday, according to state police.

“The bullet from the pistol went through the wall and just over” a man and a woman who were in the next room, police said.

No one else was injured, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, police said. The name of the man who fired the gun is being withheld until charges are filed.

Several hours after this incident, a 12-year-old boy was injured in a shooting at a Montoursville area home on Vera Road in Upper Fairfield Township, police said.

Seriously injured in the shooting, which occurred about 7 a.m., the boy was flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Police said it appeared that gunshot wound was self-inflicted. That investigation is also ongoing, police said.
