HUGHESVILLE – Two people were arrested Friday following the discovery of a methamphetamine lab operating in Hughesville.

The two were identified as Matthew Bausinger, 28, of Hughesville, and his girlfriend, Nichole Minor, 30, of Latrobe.

Police came to the residence early Friday night after receiving a call from Bausinger’s father, David Bausinger, about Minor being at their home, according to an affidavit.

He had advised police there was a warrant for her arrest.

Upon arrival at the residence, police were told by Matthew Bausinger that Minor was in the downstairs of the house.

Shortly thereafter, Matthew Bausinger reportedly attempted to flee the residence but was detained by police, the affidavit stated.

After both were taken into custody, borough police and state police searched the basement and found various drug paraphernalia, hypodermic needles, pseudophredine pills and other items.

The two were arraigned Friday before on-duty District Judge Christian Frey in Williamsport on various charges, according to police.

HUGHESVILLE – When borough Patrolman Ryan Travelpiece walked into a small room in the basement of a home on North Broad Street on Friday night, there appeared to be “a one-pot method for manufacturing methamphetamines” in full operation.

“There was a clear in color 2-liter bottle, with white pellets at the bottom. I observed a clear fluid above that, which was also calmly bubbling, with a black-in-color substance floating on the top,” the officer wrote in an affidavit.

Taken into custody at the scene and charged with the felony of operating an illegal methamphetamine laboratory was Matthew David Bausinger, 28, and his 29-year-old girlfriend Nichole Lynn Minor.

The two are alleged to have turned the small room at the home of Bausinger’s parents at 110 N. Broad St. into a dangerous meth lab.

Bausinger and Minor face additional felony charges of illegal possession of liquefied ammonia gas and other chemicals, causing or risking a catastrophe, illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine and one misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering.

The two allegedly made methamphetamine to distribute as well as to use personally, Travelpiece said.

Although Bausinger’s address on the complaint was same property, his father told Travelpiece his son did not live there “but was in-and-out of the house all the time.”

Travelpiece responded to the home about 7 p.m. after Bausinger’s father called police to report that Minor, of Latrobe, was there. The father was aware that there was a warrant for her arrest.

Travelpiece said Tuesday night the warrant stemmed from a probation violation out of Cambria County. “She been on the run for quite sometime, better part of a year,” he said of Minor.

When the officer arrived, both Bausinger and Minor were in the basement.

“Bausinger appeared scared and sweating profusely” when he saw Travelpiece. Minor was taken into custody following a brief struggle, according to court records.

Travelpiece asked Bausinger’s parents for consent to search the home.

“Go ahead, look everywhere,” the father said. Moments later, the officer discovered the makeshift lab in a room off the furnace room.

Bausinger and his girlfriend most recently had been staying in their truck, the officer said.

Following their arraignment before District Judge Christian Frey early Friday morning, both Bausinger and Minor were committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $95,000 bail each.

This was the third case of law enforcement finding an illegal methamphetamine laboratory operating in the region since November.

A 38-year-old admitted heroin addict was arrested Dec. 15 when he was found to be making meth at a home in the 300 block of Arch Street in the city. Both a man and a woman are serving a state prison sentence after they pleaded guilty to operating a meth lab in a home in the 500 block of Child Drive in South Williamsport on Nov. 19.
