Man arrested for rape charges of 12 year old

MUNCY – A Muncy man has been arrested on charges that he allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl over a period of months and offered her money to keep it quiet.

An investigation began against Charles W. Jenkins, 45, 204 N. Market St., when the young girl came into UPMC Susquehanna Muncy Valley Hospital complaining of pain.

A physician there indicated he was treating her as a victim of sexual assault, police said.

Police then spoke with the victim’s older sister who said that “Charlie” sent her and a friend of hers to the store around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 18.

When they returned about a half hour later, they walked into Jenkins allegedly raping the girl. The sister contacted her parents right away, police said.

When police spoke to the victim she told them a sexual relationship had been going on for several months before then.

She also said that “sometimes Charlie gave her money not to say anything,” according to the affidavit.

Jenkins didn’t deny the allegations when he spoke to police Monday, the affidavit said.

He told them it began on the girl’s 12th birthday after he took her to the store to buy her a present and that the acts would continue on weekends, police said.

Jenkins was charged with rape of a child, deviate sexual intercourse with a child, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

He is jailed in lieu of $100,000 bail.
