TURBOTVILLE – Flames tore through a home in Northumberland County Saturday morning, leaving a family homeless.

Eight fire companies battled the blaze at the residence of J.J. Lyons, 371 Trent Road, Turbotville.

“The home was pretty much a total loss,” Warrior Run Fire Department Chief Doug Funk said. “There were flames coming from the first floor with heavy smoke throughout the building.”

Funk said the fire, which was called in about 10:45 a.m., was under control in about 30 minutes.

Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.

No one was home at the time of the fire which remains under investigation, according to Funk.

In addition to Warrior Run, companies from Milton, White Deer Township, Pottsgrove, Turbotville Township, Montgomery, Muncy, and Hughesville responded to the blaze.
