Brush fires engulf area over weekend

By Staff | Apr 18, 2018

Hughesville and Pennsdale volunteers responded to 1688 Heidi Grey Road in Wolf Township to douse a fire that came within 40 feet of a garage about 1230 p.m.

Clinton Township firefighters responded to a brush fire at 157 Fredna Ave. in Clinton Township at 4:45 p.m. and then were called out to an incident in the first block of Old Road about 5:30 p.m.

Flames engulfed an old abandoned shed at the rear of 826 Pinchtown Road in Clinton Township shortly after 5 p.m. last Saturday. The property owner said the shed was being dismantled into “small pieces that were tossed onto a burn pile about 20 feet from the structure,” township Assistant Fire Chief Joseph Winters said. “The wind shifted and caught the whole shed on fire,” Winters said. Some brush and woods also caught fire, he added. About 5,000 gallons of water were used to douse the fire.
