Hughesville Woman Waives Hearing

By Staff | Feb 6, 2009

A mother accused of stealing from her own son’s memorial fund waived her preliminary hearing Thursday afternoon.

Marilyn Myers, of Muncy, is accused of stealing more than $5,000 from the Seth Myers Memorial Fund.

Seth died in a car crash in 2005.

Myers allegedly took the money to pay personal bills.

She is also charged with taking $6,000 while she served as treasurer of the Hughesville Wrestling Booster Club.

Defense Attorney John Gummo said, “My client’s indicated she’s sorry for what has occurred and apologizes in that regard. We do have some additional issues we need to work through at this point.”

According to court papers, the thefts took place over a period of about three years.

Myers’ case will now be heard in Lycoming County court.
