In preliminary PIAA wrestling action in the 135 pound weight class, Avella’s Mitch Spencer, (35-3) defeated Muncy’s Aaron Fry (38-2), 7-4 on Thursday at Hershey.

Fry responded by winning three straight consolation bouts, defeating Allen Daubert of Pine Grove in the first consolation round, winning 10-7; North East’s Kyle Eisaman 13-3 and South Side Beaver’s David Demor in the third round consolation by a score of 7-3.

On Friday, he earned his 100th win. Jordan Moss of Sharon, who was No. 1 at 135, knocked Fry 6-2 in the consy semis. Fry, a junior, eventually ended his season with an 8-2 loss to Travis McKillop of Burrell and finished sixth in the state with an admirable season, a 41-4 record.
