Postal Carrier Receives Award

Postmaster, Maggie Magagna gives Lewis Pearson the Million Mile Award for his thirty six years of accident free driving as a rural postal carrier in Hughesville.
Hughesville rural carrier, Lewis Pearson was inducted today into the prestigious National Safety Council’s “Million Mile Club” for over thirty years of accident-free driving on the job. He began his postal career in April 1973 and has been accident free ever since. He received a Million Mile plaque and jacket. To be qualified for the Million Mile distinction, a professional driver must drive accident free for either thirty years or a million miles. Pearson will retire from the Postal Service on July 2, 2009 after 36 years of dedicated service.
