Chad Wines, Genie Wines and Missy McKee of Muncy helped over eighty people with clothing on Sunday, December 6 in the Free 4 All monthly clothing drive at Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church. They are members of seven young adults who organized the drive six months ago.

PENNSDALE – A group of dedicated young adults from the Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church decided to start a clothing drive six months ago at the church’s youth building next door. After viewing a similar project in Swan Quarter, North Carolina when the group went on a mission trip, they decided to try it here in Pennsdale. Like Pennsdale, Swan Quarter is a charming, little farming village, and the home of the Church that was moved by the Hand of God according to a legend.

Free 4 All is a clothing give-away sponsored by the Pennsdale Trinity Young Adults from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month.

The doors to the Pennsdale Church are open to anyone who is in need of clothing. All sizes and types of clothing are available. “They just need to grab a bag over there on the way in and take as much as they need,” said Genie Wines the group’s coordinator as she pointed to tables piled high with clothes. “We sort by size and gender,” said McKee who also stated that group members are at the church building every Sunday morning working on the clothing project besides the first Sunday of each month.

“It didn’t take us long to get the donations,” she added. “We put announcements in our bulletin and newsletters all over the area and the newspapers.” Word of mouth has also worked well for the mission.

“We get people from all ages and needs from infants to the elderly,” added Wines. It just keeps growing. Most of the donations that are needed now are men’s jeans, clothing for children and toddlers, baby clothes and more racks for the clothes. There is also a table of bedding and linens.

“We have gowns for the holidays, Christmas outfits for children, and dress pants for men.”

Most of the donations and the customers come from the surrounding areas of Hughesville, Muncy and Montgomery. Refreshments are always provided.

Group members range in ages from 18 to 25. Members are Philip Bitler, Hughesville, Kristina Ryder, Montgomery, Jenn Frantz, Hughesville, Billy Middlesworth, Muncy, Chad Wines, Muncy, Nathaniel Lamoreaux, Muncy, Jen and Steven Thompson, Darren Mensch and Thomas Patterson, Muncy. Coordinators are Genie Wines and Missy McKee who is also the church secretary.
