Muncy Township bridge replacement starts soon

By Staff | Apr 10, 2012

Pennsdale and Muncy area residents will soon have a new bridge carrying Route 2051 (Middle Road) over Wolf Run.

Prime contractor Robert C. Young, Inc. will begin the $790,000 bridge replacement project on Middle Road, about one-half mile south of Route 220 in Muncy Township, during the week of April 16.

The new structure will be built on the existing alignment to today’s standards, and shouldn’t have any major maintenance needs for 50 years aside from routine preservation work. The project includes new roadway approaches along with guiderail and drainage upgrades.

During the work, the road will be closed and traffic detoured via Beacon Light Road and Route 220.

The new bridge and roadway will be reopened to traffic near the end of August.
